Danielle Lyn Greene set out to succeed at the Miss Canada Globe Pageant.

At the event, held this past August in Toronto, the Nairn Centre native came home with the MCGP Canadian Scholarship Ambassador banner and crown.

“With this, I have received a scholarship to university,” Greene said. “I am presently attending Laurentian University to complete my BSc. As this titleholder, one of my responsibilities will be to promote the value of education to youth as well as adults, but also specifically to women as a means of strength and independence.”

The first-time pageant contestant said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“It was a lot of hard work, longs hours of preparation and training sessions,” she said. “It was frustrating at times but also a lot of fun. I had the chance to get to know and spend time with some wonderful people from diverse backgrounds.”

From her success here, Greene will be competing internationally next year, representing Canada. Along with the title and opportunities, Greene said she also experienced a lot of self-growth during the pageant.

“I came home a strong woman,” she said, “with more confidence and the ability to move forward knowing who I am as a person and how to succeed to the best of my ability.”

Miss Petite Yukon Territory 2012- Jennifer Perrin did an interview with Tiara Magazine, to see her article click on this link:

http://tiaramag.net/2012/09/an-interview-with-jennie-miss-peite-yukon-2012/

Tell Us about Your Title.

My name is Jennie Perrin I am 22 years old and my title is Miss Petite Yukon. I am the title holder for the Yukon and had the opportunity to represent my Territory at the 2012 Miss Canada Petite Pageant in Toronto. For those who are not aware the Yukon is one of Canada’s 3 Territories and is Alaska’s neighbor. We have a very small population with the whole Territory being 35,000 people! This does give for lots of support and community involvement as everyone has been so supportive throughout my endeavors. Next Summer I will have the opportunity to crown my successor. This title gives me a great opportunity to spread my voice and share my platform.
When did you win your title and what were the areas of competition?

I won my title on August 18 2012. The areas of competition were interview, hair and makeup assessment, cocktail dress and swimwear. This competition also included an opening number with choreography as well as an introduction to the audience. It was comprised of 2 days of training prior to the pageant.
What types of appearances have you made as a queen?

As a queen I have made many appearances and have had so many amazing opportunities. I had the chance to be a trophy bearer at the Western Canadian Music Awards. I was in charge of the VIP’s at the 2012 Arctic Winter Games. I participated in 2012 Run for Mom. I have raised over $600 for Multiple Sclerosis and also participated in the MS walk. I also had the opportunity to assist my local food bank through several fundraisers I held and made
appearances while traveling to Panama and met many people from all over the world.

What do you hope to leave behind as your legacy?

I hope to leave behind a lot of positivity and encouragement for others to believe you really can achieve everything you put your mind to and anything your heart desires. I also hope to bestow in others that confidence comes from within and can shine for miles. I cannot believe how different I feel now from before I competed in my first pageant. I feel so much more proud and aware of myself and all the great qualities I possess.
What is your platform and why is it important to you?

My platform is Ovarian Cancer. I chose this as my platform as it is something that has affected many women today yet not something widely known. There is no cure, and no screen test for Ovarian Cancer which is what makes it so deadly. Having this as my platform has given me the opportunity to inform women the signs and symptom. Early detection of these signs and symptoms can save a life.
Do you have a specific cause or charity that you hold dear to your heart? If so, tell us why.

My Charity is paired with my platform Ovarian Cancer Canada. It is the only Charity in Canada dedicated to assisting those with Ovarian Cancer and fundraising for a cure. It is an organization I plan to continue to do lots of work with and assist in my community.
What is your pageant style?

I would say my pageant style is very glitzy and unique. I love to make a statement and appearance but stay true to who I am. For my cocktail dress I chose a gorgeous blue solid sequin flare mini dress which I fell in love with at first site. On stage with the lights it looked AMAZING! I think I always stay true to my gut feeling and first instinct. I have a love affair with Sherri Hill dresses and all my evening gowns are Sherri Hill. They are so girly and feminine but always have a different twist and lots of sparkle!
What is your everyday style?

I would say my every day style is a large mix. I love comfy clothes like sweat pants and hoodies on a cold day. I love anything high waisted and pretty colorful blouse. My favorite thing is to accessorize and especially with headbands. I no joke have over 75 headbands in my collection! They are so fun to mix and can spice up any outfit! Being short heels have become a good friend to me as well and my favorites are Guess and Manolo.

What does your pageantry experience entail?

I am very new to the pageant industry but hope to grow and learn more as time goes on. My pageant experience entails the Miss Canada Globe regional and national assessments. I have participated in interviews, platform presentation, cocktail dress, evening gown, bikini, international costume, talent and more! My chosen talent as something very unique as I did cancan dancing which is hardwork but lots of fun!

How has pageantry shaped you into the woman you are today?

Pageantry has made me a much stronger more confident woman. It has made me more of a role model and given me a much stronger voice within my community. I feel as though I can do so much more and accomplish anything I put my mind to. Pageantry also introduced me to many girls all across the country who are all so amazing and unique. Their friendships I know will last a lifetime with me and they will always hold a special place in my heart. I feel as though each of them has taught me something new and how to overcome obstacles in life.
Do you prefer pageantry or modeling?

I prefer pageantry as with modeling you are a canvas for clothes, makeup or something else and with pageantry you are only a canvas for yourself. It gives you an opportunity to make yourself known and also gives you the chance to spread a message. I know sometimes modeling can do the opposite of pageantry and bring some people down, and participating in pageants I feel is so rewarding and confidence boosting it is so amazing!

What is your modeling experience?

My modeling experience is with local photographers and local designers in my community. I have also had the chance to participate in some fashion shows, as well as be a model for cosmetics demonstrations.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I see myself happily working with a full time job, possibly married. My main focus is happiness and enjoying life to the fullest. In 5 years I hope to have traveled to 5 more countries and possibly learned a new language.
What are your future pageant goals?

I am currently working towards winning Miss Canada Charity by assisting my community in many way and attending lots of fundraisers and events in my community. My goal is to eventually have the opportunity to represent Canada in an international pageant. I love to travel and meet new people and feel it would be such an amazing opportunity.
Where can we learn more about you?

I have actually recently started a blog! http://foreverstylewithin.weebly.com/index.html
What are some of your major achievements?

At a young age I had a passion for animals and grew up on a farm. I spent many many hours training a baby lamb born breach how to walk. In highschool graduating I received the optimist award (no surprise). I have traveled to 6 countries so far in my life. I have the opportunity to be one of the participants on Canada’s only season of wipeout filmed in Buenos Aires (60,000 people applied!).
How can our readers go to learn more about this pageant system?

http://www.misscanada.tv/
Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?

I would like them to know to go for their goals, never settle for less then what they deserve!
